Tom Huddlestone drilled in the winner as we came from a goal down to register a 2-1 victory over Fulham in an absorbing contest at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Diomansy Kamara shot the home side ahead, a lead that lasted all of about 30 seconds before Roman Pavlyuchenko levelled.
The execution of Huddlestone's winner in the 63rd minute was superb, the assistant referee attempted to rule it out, only for referee Mr Dean to award the goal after consultation.
The game began with passage after passage of slick passing moves, a game of keep ball, with the home side pinned firmly back in their own half.
Gareth Bale twice provided the supply line for Pavlyuchenko to go close - first with a header, then a shot on the turn - as we attacked towards the Spurs masses behind the goal occupied by Mark Schwarzer.
Sandro, making his full Premier League debut, tried his luck from distance but his effort swerved wide before Kamara was afforded a free header from a Simon Davies corner at the other end.
A disagreement between referee and assistant put Kamara off his stride when on the charge, the assistant flagging and stalling play, the referee waving the game on. Sandro was then yellow carded for a foul on Davies as Fulham began to get a foothold in the game. Aaron Hughes headed over from a Danny Murphy cross and the home fans began to crank up the decibel level.
Carlos Salcido launched a curling effort towards the top corner that drifted slightly wide with Heurelho Gomes in flight. Fulham's creeping authority in the game was rewarded at the 30-minute mark when Clint Dempsey held off challenges inside the area and dispatched a cross shot that Kamara was in place to slot home at the far post.
The response was instant and emphatic. Rafael van der Vaart pulled a Bale cross out of the air, spun and flighted a chip over Schwarzer that struck the bar. Pavlyuchenko was on hand to calmly stroke home the rebound.
Gomes produced a magnificent save to deny Kamara, the downside being an injury suffered by Ledley King that forced the skipper to withdraw and make way for Sebastien Bassong.
Aaron Lennon was introduced at the beginning of the second half, the winger flighting a cross that teed up Van der Vaart at the far post with Schwarzer thwarting his effort.
Gomes later tipped over from a Chris Baird header following a Davies corner before Lennon forced a smart save from Schwarzer.
The balance of power was hard to call. For our part the approach play was pleasing on the eye, but a little lacking when it came to the final third, whereas Fulham were perhaps more direct in their approach but in no way route one.
On 63 minutes, Bale aimed a corner out to Huddlestone 25 yards out and the midfielder drilled in a thumping drive that landed in the bottom corner of the net.
Celebrations were cut short by the assistant flagging for offside but, after consultation, referee Mr Dean awarded the goal and Huddlestone was finally able restore the smile to his face.
Peter Crouch replaced Pavlyuchenko with 21 minutes left on the clock and it was Crouch's flick after a Bale surge that resulted in van der Vaart being denied a clear shot on goal by a combination of Salcido and Brede Hangeland.
Fulham pressed and the pressure was absorbed with relative comfort and a second away win of the season in the league was recorded.
