Opara and Generation adidas Team Return from Madrid
Quakes defender Ike Opara and the rest of the Generation adidas team concluded a very successful trip to Madrid, going 3-0. They defeated Real Madrid’s reserve squad 2-1, Rayo Vallecano FC’s reserves 1-0 and Atletico Madrid 4-1. Opara played 61 minutes against Real Madrid and 40 minutes against Rayo Vallecano FC. It was Opara’s first game action since breaking his foot on July 31 against Seattle Sounders FC. The Generation adidas team included some of the best young players in MLS. The team was coached by the FC Dallas coaching staff, headed by MLS Coach of the Year, Schellas Hyndman.
Scouting
The Earthquakes technical staff is deep into scouting this month with plans to fly around the country and the world to look at players. General Manager John Doyle attended the College Cup last weekend in Santa Barbara as Akron brought home the NCAA Championship with a 1-0 win over Louisville. Doyle also took in the semifinal matches as Akron dispatched Michigan and Louisville defeated North Carolina. Head coach Frank Yallop and assistant coach Mark Watson departed this weekend for Osaka, Japan to attend the J-League player combine. They will be in Japan from Dec. 13-16 for this combine. Assistant coach Ian Russell will also travel to Ghana from December 16-19 to scout players.
Stage 2 of MLS Re-Entry Draft Wednesday

MLS Combine to Take Place Jan. 8-11
The MLS Player Combine will take place in the days leading up to the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas. The league announced that the combine will be held January 8-11 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and the SuperDraft will take place at 9 a.m. PT on January 13. The SuperDraft will take place at the Baltimore Convention Center, in conjunction with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention.
