San Jose Earthquakes players and coaches open the 2011 preseason on Thursday at the Nutrilite Training Facility.

The Quakes reconvene after a two month layoff following their exciting run to the Eastern Conference Championship last November. A host of new faces are expected to be in camp, including offseason acquisitions Steven Lenhart (F, Columbus), Anthony Ampaipitakwong (MF, SuperDraft), Victor Cortez (D/MF, Supp. Draft) and Philip Tuttle (GK, Supp. Draft).

A late addition to today's camp is former Cal goalkeeper David Bingham. The Quakes landed Bingham in Wednesday's weighted lottery.

With Bingham, the battle for the third goalkeeper on the roster heated up. Tuttle along with trialists Andrew Weber and Brian Edwards are among those competing for the final spot.

Weber began the 2010 season as the Quakes No. 3 goalkeeper before being released midseason. Edwards took the reigns as the No. 2 keeper for San Jose with Joe Cannon shelved for the season with a fractured foot while Tuttle was a third-round 2011 Supplemental Draft selection.
