Quakes arrive in Ventura for trio of friendlies

Chris Wondolowski Training Quakes Gear

VENTURA, Calif. — The San Jose Earthquakes will play three exhibition games during a six-day stay in Ventura, the first of which will be played against Chivas USA on Monday at 2 p.m. at Field 6 of The Home Depot Center.

The Quakes arrived at the hotel just in time for the Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon. The travel squad includes a list of the usual suspects as well as a group of five non-roster invitees hoping to make an impact during the week's scrimmages.

Not among the names in Southern California were goalkeepers Brian Edwards and Philip Tuttle. The three keepers still in camp with the Quakes include incumbent Jon Busch, Generation adidas pick-up David Bingham and the presumed winner of the No. 3 spot, Andrew Weber.

Aside from its match against Chivas USA, the Quakes return to The Home Depot Center for a match against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday at 1 p.m. San Jose will conclude its trip with a closed-door scrimmage against the Ventura County Fusion of the Premier Development League on Friday.
