The San Jose Earthquakes named Matteo Carbone the Odwalla Player of the Month for April. Carbone plays for the Santa Cruz Breakers 02B White's, a boys' Under-8 team that plays in the CYSA Cal Soccer League.
Matteo is eight years old and has been playing soccer since the age of five. The 2011 season is his second year of competitive play with the Breakers youth development program.
In his first season with the Breakers, Carbone was one of the leading goal scorers in his division and participated in all team activities including training sessions, tournaments and camps. Carbone especially enjoys playing under the direction of the Breakers U-8 coaching staff: Mike Arzabal and Brian Cronin.
Carbone spends much of his time playing soccer in the backyard and watching his favorite European teams: FC Barcelona and Inter Milan. His favorite international player is the Argentinian Diego Milito. Off the field, Carbone is a second grader at Vine Hill Elementary in Scotts Valley, Calif. and enjoys spending time with his family.
Carbone's favorite San Jose Earthquakes player is Simon Dawkins.
