SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has given Steven Lenhart an indefinite family leave of absence. The striker departed the club to spend time with his family in Southern California following San Jose’s match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 20.

Lenhart is the Earthquakes’ second-leading scorer with five goals in 14 games. He also has a team-leading three assists. A timetable for his return has not been set at this time.

“Steven is a very important member of the Earthquakes family,” said Earthquakes head coach Frank Yallop. “We have a very tight-knit group here and everybody in the organization has compassion for Steven’s situation. The last few months have been very difficult for the Lenharts and we wish them all the best. Family is the most important thing and we fully support him right now. When he is ready to rejoin the club, we will welcome him with open arms.”
