Chicago Scouting Report:

  • Dominic Oduro tallied his team-leading ninth goal of the season with his strike in the 17th minute in the Fire’s 2-0 win over Colorado on Aug. 27. The Ghanaian sits one away from becoming the first Fire player since Damani Ralph in 2004 to score double-digit goals during the regular season.

  • Two Chicago Fire players have been involved with their respective national sides during the FIFA international break. Midfielder Marco Pappa opened the scoring for Guatemala in the 15th minute as Los Chapines defeated St. Vincent 4-0 on Sept. 2 in Guatemala City. On-loan striker Orr Barouch made his international debut for the Israel U-21 side as they fell 4-1 to England at Oakwell Stadium in Barnsley on Sept. 5. Barouch and Pappa will rejoin the Fire for the match at San Jose.

  • The Fire will face off against former goalkeeper Jon Busch. The 10-year MLS veteran is 5-4-5 when in goal against the Fire.

Six Degrees (or less) of Quakes-Fire Separation: The Clintons

  • Chicago goalkeeper Jon Conway was a teammate with current Quakes defender Chris Leitch on the New York Red Bulls and played with Sam Cronin, Nana Attakora and Jacob Peterson at Toronto FC. He also played in four matches for the Premier Development League's San Francisco Seals in 2000.

  • In 2006, the Seals sent two teams to the prestigious Milk Cup in Northern Ireland.

  • One of the venues for the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland is the University of Ulster.

  • Former President of the United States Bill Clinton and US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton both received honorary degrees from the University of Ulster.
