SJ acquires international player slot for Convey

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has acquired an additional international player slot from Sporting Kansas City in exchange for midfielder Bobby Convey.


Convey started 72 of his 75 games over three seasons with the Earthquakes. He scored three goals and had 14 assists with the club during that time.


The Quakes originally signed Convey on Feb. 10, 2009 following his return to MLS from Reading FC. He won 2010 MLS Comeback Player of the Year honors after scoring one goal and notching 10 assists and helping San Jose to a playoff appearance.


Sporting Kansas City will receive its international player slot back on Jan. 1, 2013.
