Earthquakes announce preseason travel plans

San Jose, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will make preseason trips to Tucson, Ariz., Ventura, Calif. and Portland, Ore. in 2012, the club announced today. The latter event will include a four-team tournament with the host Portland Timbers, Chivas USA and AIK Fotboll of Sweden from Feb. 26 to March 5.


Earthquakes players report to camp on Jan. 15 for team physicals. The squad will then train in San Jose from Jan. 16 to Jan. 29 before departing for a six-day camp in Tucson, Ariz. Following their time in the Grand Canyon State, the Quakes will return to the Bay Area from Feb. 5-14 before traveling down the Pacific Coast for nine days in Ventura.


After a brief interlude, the club will head to Portland from Feb. 26 to March 5 to play matches against the Timbers, Chivas USA and AIK Fotboll. The club will play on Feb. 27, March 1 and March 4 at JELD-WEN Field. Individual tickets for the tournament, which start at $10 per doubleheader session, go on sale Monday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. at the JELD-WEN Field box office and area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at (800) 745-3000.


The Earthquakes will close their preseason in the Bay Area with MLS First Kick slated for Saturday, March 10 at Buck Shaw Stadium.


The club will announce game dates for its trips to Tucson and Ventura at a later date.
