Earthquakes to play Rapids in San Luis Obispo

SAN JOSE, Calif. - For a second consecutive year, the San Jose Earthquakes will play the Colorado Rapids in San Luis Obispo, Calif. as part of the MLS Central Coast Challenge hosted by Cal Poly Athletics. The match will kickoff at 6 p.m. PT at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

The trip to the Central Coast will be the Quakes' fourth in five years. In 2011, San Jose topped Colorado 1-0 thanks to a 29th-minute penalty by Chris Wondolowski. The club played to a scoreless draw against D.C. United and defeated the Columbus Crew, 2-1, in the inaugural 2008 event. In 2009, San Jose won a pair, knocking off the expansion Seattle Sounders FC 3-2 and the Houston Dynamo 2-0.

Pre-sale tickets for the match are $12 for adults and $7 for youth (ages 2-13) and seniors (60 and above). Cal Poly students, staff and faculty may purchase tickets for $5 in person (ID required at time of purchase. Students will be limited to one ticket per purchase; staff will have the option of two). Tickets are on sale at www.gopoly.com or by calling (805) 756-5806.

Pre-sale will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Gate prices leading into the event will be $15 for adults and $10 for youth and seniors. The $5 option for students, staff and faculty will still be in place on match night.
