The San Jose Earthquakes reserves are in Southern California for their first road test of the 2012 MLS Reserve League season, set to take on the LA Galaxy on Tuesday, May 8. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at The Home Depot Center complex in Carson, Calif.
The Quakes reserves (1-1-0, 3 pts.) have been idle for the past month, since a 2-1 home defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Easter Sunday, April 8. In that match, Anthony Ampaipitakwong’s close-range tap-in following a saved shot by Sam Garza leveled matters in the 77th minute, only for the visiting ‘Caps to grab a winner just seconds later.
San Jose had opened its 10-game Reserve League slate by edging the visiting Portland Timbers, 1-0, in San Jose on March 27.
The LA Galaxy reserves (0-1-0, 0 pts.) came away from their lone Reserve League contest so far this year with a 4-2 defeat to Chivas USA on April 2. All six goals came in the second half, with Chad Barrett tallying both scores for the LA Galaxy off of Adam Cristman assists to cut the margin to just one after Chivas USA had gotten out to a 3-0 advantage.
The Earthquakes’ travel roster for the contest is made up of the following 17 players: David Bingham, Brad Ring, Sercan Guvenisik, Tressor Moreno, Evan Newton, Jean-Marc Alexandre, Sam Garza, Anthony Ampaipitakong, Ellis McLoughlin, Cesar Diaz Pizarro, Josh Suggs, Ike Opara, Cristian Cruz, Roberto Mendoza, Christian De Luna, ^Kareem Smith and ^Kyle Kaveny ( = San Jose Earthquakes Academy; ^ = Guest Trialist).

Following Tuesday’s match, the Quakes reserves host Chivas USA on Monday, May 14, at the Earthquakes Training Facility beginning at 11 a.m.
Future home dates for the Earthquakes reserves are Aug. 12 and Sept. 4. All home matches are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. at the Earthquakes Training Facility (1125 Coleman Avenue). Reserve League games in San Jose are open to the public and free of charge.
