Our Groundbreaking Ceremony is approaching quickly! This Sunday, Oct. 21 at 12:00 p.m., the San Jose Earthquakes will break ground and make history at 1125 Coleman Avenue. The Earthquakes could not be more excited to have the greatest soccer fans be a part of history. Below is a list of key reminders in order to make the ceremony the most enjoyable it can be.


  1. Arrive Early! Parking lots will open and check-in will begin at 10:30 a.m.  The event will start at 12:00 p.m.


Directions:

From San Francisco/Palo Alto
Drive 101 South
Take the De La Cruz Blvd. Exit Toward Santa Clara
Turn Left at Coleman Ave.
Arrive at 1125 Coleman Avenue


From Berkeley/Oakland:
Drive 880 South
Take Coleman Ave. Exit
Turn Right onto Coleman Ave.
Arrive at 1125 Coleman Avenue


From Santa Cruz:
Drive 17 North
Continue onto 880 North
Take Coleman Ave. exit
Turn Right onto Coleman Ave.
Arrive at 1125 Coleman Avenue


From Morgan Hill/Gilroy:
Drive 101 North
Take Exit 388C to merge onto 880 South
Take the Coleman Ave. exit
Turn Right onto Coleman Ave.
Arrive at 1125 Coleman Avenue


2.           Parking is free and will be available on-site!  Lots will open at 10:30 a.m., so arrive early!  The entrance to the parking lot will be located at the intersection of Aviation Avenue and Coleman Avenue – San Jose Police officers will be on hand to direct traffic.


3.           Bring the invitation you received in your RSVP Confirmation Email!  Each person in attendance must have an invitation AND be checked in by 12:00 p.m. to get an official shovel.


4.           Get digging instructions from Dave Kaval! Beginning at approximately 12:20 p.m., Earthquakes President Dave Kaval will give an introduction and instruct participants on the digging process.


5.           Dig for two full minutes! We need each participant to dig for two minutes to break the Guinness World Record.


6.           Show that you were a part of this historic event! Take as many pictures as you can, check in on Foursquare, and tweet live using the hashtag #groundbreaking.


7.           Wear your Quakes gear!  Support your Quakes to the fullest by wearing as much Earthquakes apparel as possible.


8.           No tailgating on site!  Lot 4, the normal gameday tailgating lot will be open at 10:00 a.m.  We encourage all tailgaters to arrive early at Lot 4, set up your tailgate and then carpool to the Groundbreaking site.


9.           Move your car! If you are attending the match against the LA Galaxy, you will have to move your car to a Buck Shaw Stadium parking lot.


10.         No shovels in Buck Shaw Stadium!  You will need to drop your shovel off at your car or with a friend, as no shovels will be permitted inside Buck Shaw Stadium.


            11.         Have fun! Enjoy the beautiful day and being part of history.
