Chris Wondolowski has had a busy summer representing the National Team, being named to the 2013 MLS All-Stars and leading the San Jose Earthquakes in goals.
On Wednesday night in Kansas City, Wondo suited up for the 2013 MLS All-Star Game, appearing as a halftime substitution. Although the All-Stars went on to fall 3-0 to AS Roma, Wondo left an impression on All-Star coach Peter Vermes. Vermes had this to say on Wondolowski and fellow All-Star Landon Donovan:
“I thought both those guys did well. Landon is a world class player that does so many things on the field that I don’t think people realize that gets taken for granted. And Wondo, we had to play him a little bit out of position a little bit. He likes to play closer to goal, but we had him wide at times. They did a hell of a job.”
Wondolowski has appeared in three consecutive MLS All-Star Games.
