Quakes to participate in weighted lottery for Schuler

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes are one of two teams who will participate in a weighted lottery on Tuesday at 7 a.m. PT to win the services of forward Billy Schuler.


Schuler played college soccer for the University of North Carolina, helping lead the Tar Heels to the 2011 NCAA Championship with 16 goals in his junior year. He left school early and signed with Hammarby IF. Schuler spent two seasons with the Swedish side, notching two goals in 26 appearances. 


The teams participating in the weighted lottery and their odds of winning are:


San Jose Earthquakes - 95.7%
Real Salt Lake – 4.3%


San Jose has won two weighted lotteries since 2011. The Earthquakes landed David Bingham with an 8.8 percent chance on Jan. 26, 2011 and then grabbed MarcusTracy with 4.6 percent odds on Sept. 11, 2012.
