Past Earthquakes President and club Hall of Fame member Peter Bridgwater is often credited for keeping pro soccer alive in the United States. As past player and current GM John Doyle references, we can attribute a lot of what we have today as club to Bridgwater. He brought San Jose into MLS in 1996 and worked with Bay Area venues for the 1994 Men's World Cup and the 1999 Women's World Cup. Throughout his sickness, he continued to be a huge ambassador for the club up until the day he passed. It goes without saying - Bridgwater's devotion to the sport is at the heart of the Earthquakes.
