The club may have just started using the term #neversaydie in the past two seasons, but the San Jose Earthquakes have been notorious for these moments since 1974. 


For forty years, perseverance and desire to win have been key to a great Goonie comeback.

Our First MLS Cup Championship

October 21, 2001: Quakes win MLS Cup in overtime 2-1 against the LA Galaxy 

2003

Greatest Comeback in MLS History

November 9, 2003: Down 4-0 on aggregate, Earthquakes rally to come back and beat the LA Galaxy 5-4 on aggregate in the Western Conference Semifinals. They later go on to clinch the 2003 MLS Cup.  

2007

Back to San Jose

July 18, 2007: After the team relocated to Houston in 2005, Lew Wolff exercises his rights to purchase the San Jose Earthquakes and brings the team back to the city.

Lenhart Wig Night

July 28, 2012: Lenhart scores in the 98th minute against the Chicago Fire

2013

Instant Classic

June 29, 2013: In another thrilling California Clasico at Stanford Stadium, Alan Gordon scores the game-winner in the 93rd minute to clinch a 3-2 victory over the LA Galaxy.
