Stewart, Salinas sign new contracts with club

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed defender Jordan Stewart and midfielder Shea Salinas to new contracts. Per league and team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.


Stewart, 31, made 12 appearances after signing with the Earthquakes on July 9, 2013. The Earthquakes were 7-2-3 with seven shutouts after the English Premier League veteran debuted. Prior to joining San Jose, Stewart made appearances with 10 different clubs, including stops in the Premiership with Leicester City and Watford.


Salinas, 27, led the Earthquakes with a career-high eight assists in 2013. He also matched his single-season mark for goals with two. The six-year MLS veteran has spent the last two seasons in San Jose, making 47 appearances in the process. He began his career with the Earthquakes in 2008 and 2009 before moving to the Philadelphia Union in 2010 and Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2011, both via expansion drafts.
