MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

Wondolowski Scores in Tucson Finale
Chris Wondolowski scored in his first preseason game for the Earthquakes, a 3-1 loss against the Houston Dynamo over the weekend at Tucson’s Kino Sports Complex. Wondolowski and Clarence Goodson each saw their first action in a Quakes jersey this season after returning from United States Men’s National Team duty. The Earthquakes led 1-0 at the half after Wondolowski tapped home a deflected Shea Salinas shot, but yielded three after making wholesale substitutions at the half.


Earthquakes Drop Preseason Opener 2-1 vs. Sounders FC
San Jose rallied in the second half with a goal from Mike Fucito, but ultimately fell 2-1 against Seattle Sounders FC in their preseason opener last week at Tucson’s Kino Sports Complex. Obafemi Martins recorded a brace for Seattle as the Earthquakes split their squad between two halves of play.


Eight Players Invited to PDL Evaluation Following Open Tryout
Eight players from the club’s open tryout on Jan. 26 at Danville’s Mustang Soccer Complex have been asked to participate in a second round of tryouts. The group will compete for a roster spot on the Earthquakes’ PDL team. The list of participants includes: Mario Cos, Adam Updegrove, Hugo Banuelos, Gustavo Silva, Jose Diaz, Carlos Gabriel Pecanha, Jaime Barragan, Kyle O'Brien.


Stewart, Salinas Sign New Contracts
Defender Jordan Stewart and midfielder Shea Salinas signed new contracts on Feb. 3. Per league and team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. Stewart, 31, made 12 appearances after signing with the Earthquakes on July 9, 2013. The Earthquakes were 7-2-3 with seven shutouts after the English Premier League veteran debuted. Prior to joining San Jose, Stewart made appearances with 10 different clubs, including stops in the Premiership with Leicester City and Watford. Salinas, 27, led the Earthquakes with a career-high eight assists in 2013. He also matched his single-season mark for goals with two. The six-year MLS veteran has spent the last two seasons in San Jose, making 47 appearances in the process. He began his career with the Earthquakes in 2008 and 2009 before moving to the Philadelphia Union in 2010 and Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2011, both via expansion drafts.


Earthquakes Unveil New Logo, Jerseys
The Earthquakes unveiled the club’s new logo during a public event attended by over 4,000 fans last week at San Pedro Square Market in Downtown San Jose. The club projected images and videos onto the 12-story Sunwize building at the corner of W St. John St. and N San Pedro St. For more information about the unveiling, visit www.sjearthquakes.com.


CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal Schedule Announced
The Earthquakes will host Deportivo Toluca FC on Tuesday, March 11 in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal. Kickoff is 7 p.m. PT at Buck Shaw Stadium with television information to be announced at a later date. San Jose will travel to Mexico the following week for the second leg on Wednesday, March 19 at Nemesio Diez Stadium. Kickoff will be 5 p.m. PT with television information to follow at a later date. 10 Nationally Televised Games for Earthquakes in 2014
The Earthquakes announced their 2014 slate on Monday, a schedule that includes 10 nationally televised games and home dates at Stanford Stadium and Levi’s® Stadium. Individual tickets for all games except matches at Stanford Stadium and Levi’s® Stadium will be available through a special Visa Pre-Sale starting on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. PT and will be available by visiting the club’s website or by calling 1-800-225-2277. Stanford Stadium On-Sale Date
The Earthquakes will play at Stanford Stadium for a fourth-consecutive year on Saturday, June 28 against the LA Galaxy. The previous two editions drew sellout crowds of over 50,000. In addition to the soccer match, fans will be treated to a Salute to the Armed Forces halftime show and post-game fireworks extravaganza. Tickets will go on sale beginning Wednesday, Jan. 29 with a special Visa Pre-Sale. General public availability will follow two days later starting at 10 a.m. PT.


Earthquakes to Open Levi’s® Stadium on Aug. 2, 2014
The Santa Clara Stadium Authority and the San Jose Earthquakes announced that they have partnered to present the first event at Levi’s® Stadium. The Earthquakes will play host to Seattle Sounders FC in one of Major League Soccer’s most heated rivalries on August 2, 2014. Earthquakes season ticket holders and Levi’s® Stadium SBL holders will have priority access to tickets for this event. Tickets for the general public go on sale at a later date. In order to ensure great seats at the match, fans should call the Earthquakes Front Office at 408-556-7700 to purchase season tickets today.


ACADEMY NOTES

Earthquakes U-16s
The Earthquakes U-16s defeated Nomads SC 2-1 and drew 1-1 with the San Diego Surf over the weekend. Philip Hausen and Jonathan Partida found the net in their win on Saturday against Nomads SC while Isaias Pio tallied in Sunday’s draw. The U-16s will return to action on Saturday, March 1 against Pateadores. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m. PT at Mustang Soccer Complex in Danville, Calif.


Earthquakes U-18s
The Earthquakes U-18s lost 4-3 against Nomads SC and defeated the San Diego Surf 1-0 over the weekend. San Jose trailed 3-0 and pulled to within one goal after an 86th minute strike from Rodrigo Gonzalez Villamar, but ultimately fell 4-3 against Nomads SC on Saturday. Amir Bashti and Macario Hing-Glover both scored as well. One day later, the Earthquakes topped the San Diego Surf thanks to an 87th minute goal from Roberto Mendoza. The U-18s return to action on Saturday, March 1 against Pateadores. Kickoff is 11 a.m. PT at Mustang Soccer Complex in Danville, Calif.
