Koval, Thompson read to local students as part of Read Across America Day

Earthquakes rookies JJ Koval and Tommy Thompson celebrated Read Across America Day by reading two of their favorite Dr. Seuss books to local elementary school students.

Koval visited Meadows Elementary School in San Jose and read The Cat in the Hat to 75 third graders. After finishing the book, the Stanford graduate had some time to show off his juggling skills, much to the delight of the students.

Rookie Tommy Thompson visited Baker Elementary School in San Jose and read the Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax to first graders. Afterwards, the homegrown player chatted and signed autographs for the kids.

Now in its 17th year, Read Across America Day was created by the National Education Association to promote literacy in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday.
