Last Game vs. Colorado Rapids

Earthquakes 1, Colorado Rapids 0; Oct. 9, 2013; Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Chris Wondolowski’s 69th-minute goal led San Jose to a 1-0 win against the Colorado Rapids in front of a sold-out crowd at Buck Shaw Stadium. Wondolowski headed home his 10th goal of the season off a Shea Salinas corner kick. The marker was his 33rd career game winner, tying him for No. 3 in MLS history with Ante Razov. He also became the 11th player in league history to record double-digit goals in four consecutive seasons. The Earthquakes would have found the net sooner if not for a gritty defensive effort from the Rapids. Alan Gordon clipped the post with a header in the ninth minute and then defender Drew Moor went to the ground to block point-blank shots from Wondolowski and Gordon on the Rapids’ goal line midway through the second half. Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin also made a diving one-handed save to deny Wondolowski at the near post in the 69th minute, just before the corner kick that netted the eventual winner.
