Harris called to Saint Kitts and Nevis national team duty

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Atiba Harris was called to Saint Kitts and Nevis National Team duty on Tuesday for 2014 Caribbean Cup qualifiers his hometown of Basseterre. The first match for Saint Kitts and Nevis will be Wednesday, Sept. 3 against St. Lucia, followed by matches Friday, Sept. 5 against Dominica and Sunday, Sept. 7 against Guyana.

Harris, 29, has 10 goals in 27 caps for Saint Kitts and Nevis. His most recent appearance came in a 2-0 win over Anguilla on Oct. 10, 2012 in the 2012 Caribbean Cup. On Feb. 6, 2008, Harris appeared in the first leg of Stage One qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Harris played in the semifinal round of the CONCACAF qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, finishing at the bottom of Group Three. He has represented his native Saint Kitts and Nevis at the U-13, U-15, U-17, U-20, and U-23 Olympic levels.

Harris has recorded three goals and two assists in 15 starts for San Jose this season. The rangy winger joined San Jose from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for midfielder Marvin Chavez on Jan. 7, 2014.
