#MarchHome: The Great Soccer Ball Relay kicks off in Sacramento

The ball is officially rolling. With one city down and fifteen more to go, we're on our way to opening day at Avaya Stadium.

The Great Soccer Ball Relay presented by BMW kicked off in Sacramento on Thursday. With the help of celebrity participants Adam Jahn, Starr Walton-Hurley of the '64 Olympics, Gabe Gardner of the '04 and '08 Olympics, Sacramento Republic FC's President Warren Smith, Sacramento Republic FC's captain Rodrigo Lopez, Sacramento Republic FC player Max Alvarez, Nick Dillon, former Quakes player Kevin Goldthwaite and Earthquakes season ticket holder John Matthews, we covered a mile and a half in the state's capital. Each participant helped dribble our official Great Soccer Ball Relay ball (graciously provided by Adidas) to get us closer on our #MarchHome to Avaya Stadium.

Next up: we're headed to San Rafael on Saturday, January 10. For a full list of relay dates and details on each location, visit www.sjearthquakes.com/greatsoccerballrelay
