Last Game vs. Real Salt Lake
Earthquakes 0, Real Salt Lake 2; Oct. 11, 2014; Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah
The Earthquakes lost 2-0 against Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium. The Earthquakes were shorthanded, only suiting up 17 players due to international duty and injuries. Real Salt Lake jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. Ned Grabavoy sent a shot through traffic that teammate Kyle Beckerman shielded from Quakes goalkeeper Jon Busch’s view. Beckerman stepped over the shot and watched it roll into the lower corner past the outstretched arms of Busch for Grabavoy’s second goal of the season. Real Salt Lake doubled their lead five minutes later on a corner kick. Luke Mulholland sent an in-swinger from the near sideline that Sebastian Velasquez deposited in the back of the net with a leaping volley for his first career regular season goal with RSL. Busch ended the night with seven saves, moving him to within three of Joe Cannon’s club record 137 set in 2000.
