Last MLS Game
Earthquakes 2, LA Galaxy 5; July 17, 2015; StubHub Center in Carson, California
The San Jose Earthquakes got two first-half goals from forward Quincy Amarikwa, but fell to the LA Galaxy 5-2 at the StubHub Center. The Quakes were without two of their three goal-scorers - forward Chris Wondolowski and midfielder Cordell Cato - from the two teams' previous meeting this season. Amarikwa made his first start on the road for San Jose since being acquired and defender Jordan Stewart returned from his one-game absence due to suspension. In the 12th minute, Amarikwa perfectly timed his run to beat an offsides trap and midfielder Fatai Alashe delivered a ball over the top. After doing well to control the lofted pass, Amarikwa attempted a left-footed shot, but his effort was saved by Galaxy keeper Brian Rowe. In the 22nd minute, defender Marvell Wynne sent a pass down the right flank and midfielder Sanna Nyassi sprinted up the sideline to track it down. Nyassi played a quick ball across the penalty area and Amarikwa one-timed a shot from about 15 yards out, beating the keeper. It marked Amarikwa's first goal of the season and first with San Jose since October 7, 2009. Just three minutes later, Amarikwa doubled his scoring total. Following a free kick by midfielder Matias Perez Garcia, the ball was batted around and fell loose in front of goal. Amarikwa was the first to get to it and calmly slotted his shot into the bottom-right corner of the net. It marked the first multi-goal game of his career. In the 30th minute, Los Angeles was able to cut their deficit in half. After being awarded a penalty kick, forward Robbie Keane converted to pull the home side within a goal. Seven minutes later, LA pulled level. A ball played low across the box found its way onto the foot of midfielder Steven Gerrard at the back post. Gerrard one-timed the ball past keeper David Bingham and into the net. The Galaxy took a 3-2 lead in the 64th minute. Gerrard hit a low free kick across the face of goal and Keane redirected it goal-ward. LA would add two late goals - a penalty by Keane and a header by forward Sebastian Lleget - to extend their lead to 5-2.

Last Game vs. Vancouver Whitecaps
Earthquakes 1, Vancouver Whitecaps 0; April 11 2015; Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California
The San Jose Earthquakes walked off the pitch with three points after defeating Vancouver Whitecaps FC 1-0. The Quakes used sound, consistent defending and a spectacular goal by Sanna Nyassi to earn their third win of the season, and treated the sold-out crowd of 18,000 to a victory in Avaya Stadium’s first-ever night match. The Earthquakes created the first scoring opportunity of the match in the eighth minute. Midfielder Matias Perez Garcia whipped in an in-swinging cross from the left side of the pitch and onto the foot of forward Adam Jahn. Jahn controlled the ball and slotted it past Whitecaps FC goalkeeper David Ousted, but the goal was called back for offsides. Vancouver’s best opportunity in the first half came in the 41st minute. Forward Ocatvio Rivero entered the penalty area in a dangerous position and laid the ball off to midfielder Pedro Morales, who was charging ahead for a shot, but Quakes midfielder Shea Salinas did well to hustle back and intercept the pass. In the 69th minute, Salinas took a short corner from Perez Garcia and whipped in a cross. The ball was just too high for a leaping Adam Jahn and Clarence Goodson’s sliding effort at the back post narrowly missed wide right. San Jose broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. Perez Garcia played a through ball to Cordell Cato, who cut back and ripped a shot with his right foot. The shot was blocked and the rebound fell to Salinas, who one-timed the ball back on target, but his attempt was blocked as well. The loose ball then rolled out to midfielder Sanna Nyassi, who blasted a left-footed strike past goalkeeper David Ousted and into the back of the net. It marked his first goal as a member of the Earthquakes. The two teams each finished the match with 10 players after Whitecaps FC midfielder Pedro Morales and Quakes forward Adam Jahn were both sent off in the 88th minute. San Jose’s stout defense was evidenced by the fact that Vancouver recorded no shots on target, and the team’s four starting defensemen – Wynne, Goodson, Bernardez and Cato – each played the entire 90 minutes. Also, Matias Perez Garcia’s dangerous left foot saw plenty of action on set pieces once again, adding seven corner kicks to his league-leading total.
