Earthquakes Loan Three Players to USL Affiliate Sacramento Republic FC

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that they have loaned midfielders JJ Koval and Tommy Thompson and forward Mark Sherrod to the club’s USL affiliate Sacramento Republic FC for their match tonight against Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Bonney Field. Both Koval and Thompson spent time on loan with Sacramento last season. 


Koval, 23, has appeared in 14 games (six starts) for San Jose this season. He was originally drafted by the Earthquakes in the first round (9th overall) of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.


Thompson, 20, has played in 13 games (four starts) for the Quakes this season, after signing the first homegrown contract in club history last year.


Sherrod, 25, was acquired from Orlando City SC in exchange for San Jose’s natural second-round selection (25th overall) in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He has appeared in six games (two starts) for the club in 2015.
