SAN JOSE, Calif. – Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. this Friday, October 9, at the Avaya Stadium box office for the November 14 friendly match between Club Chivas de Guadalajara and Club Atlas, also based in Guadalajara, for the rivalry known as el 'Clásico Tapatío'. Ticket prices start at $35.
Club Deportivo Guadalajara; often simply known as Guadalajara, and popularly known as las Chivas is a Mexican professional soccer club based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Guadalajara plays in Liga MX with 11 First Division titles, 7 Campeón de Campeones, 1 InterLiga, 1 Copa Challenger, 4 Copa Oros de Occidente, and 2 Copa México. Guadalajara is one of the 10 founding members of the Mexican First Division and, along with longstanding rivals Club América, have never been relegated to the second-tier division. Guadalajara was the runner-up of the 2010 Copa Libertadores.
Atlas Fútbol Club; is also a very popular Mexican soccer club. Atlas is one of two teams that play in Guadalajara, México, along with Chivas. Club Atlas was founded in a bar of Guadalajara, México, where a few friends recalled their futbol experience on English college squads where they had spent the last few years. Alfonso and Juan José "Lico" Cortina, Pedro "Perico" and Carlos Fernández del Valle, the three Orendain brothers and Federico Collignon, who had studied in Berlin, finally decided in the summer of 1910 to set up a team called "Club Atlas" and founded it in Tlaquepaque, outside the city of Guadalajara.
A press conference has been set up for Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Avaya Stadium to provide more details. Representatives of both squads, including players Jorge 'El Chato' Enriquez from Chivas and Miguel Fraga from Atlas, will be present to answer questions, as will officials of Latin Entertainment the promoter of this event.
