Player Spotlight: Clarence Goodson's 2015 Season in Review

Clarence Goodson showed the rest of Major League Soccer why he’s still among the best center backs in the nation by having arguably the best season of his seven-year MLS career.

On the Field: Goodson made 28 appearances (2nd most of his career) and 28 starts (t-most), while finishing with 2,398 minutes (2nd most).

Game-Winning Goals: Entering the season with one career game-winning goal, Goodson tallied two in 2015 alone. He was the only defender in MLS to score multiple game-winning goals this season.

International Champions Cup Tally:
Goodson didn’t just score twice in MLS play, but he also tallied a goal against Club America on July 14 as part of the International Champions Cup North America. The 24th-minute header gave the home side a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

MLS Team of the Week: Goodson was a regular for MLS Team of the Week, being selected five times. He was the only defender in MLS to earn the nod on five or more occasions.

Defensive Prowess: In his 28 starts, he helped the Quakes secure 10 shutouts (35.7% of the games). Overall, San Jose allowed just 33 total goals in his 28 starts (1.18 goals against average).

Distribution is Key: Goodson tallied two assists, a career high, and just one shy of equalizing his career total entering the season.

Milestones: Goodson made his 100th MLS appearance on May 5 at Houston and his 100th MLS start on July 10 vs. Houston. He is just 13 minutes shy of 10,000 for his MLS career.
