The Earthquakes depart today for a training camp in Tucson, Arizona, where they will remain until February 10. While in Tucson, the club will play three scrimmages – Wednesday, February 3 against the New England Revolution; Saturday, February 6 against the Houston Dynamo; and Tuesday, February 9 against Seongnam FC of the Korean K League.

After hosting Media Day and announcing the team’s new jersey sponsor, Sutter Health, at a press conference last Tuesday, the Quakes opened the 2016 preseason with a pair of 8-0 victories at Avaya Stadium against the club’s U-18 academy on Wednesday and San Francisco Stompers FC on Saturday. During the friendly against the academy squad, the Earthquakes also unveiled their new red and white secondary kits for the 2016 season.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

Earthquakes Unveil New Secondary Kit
The San Jose Earthquakes unveiled the club’s new secondary kit for the 2016 season. The white and red color scheme pays homage to the Quakes rich history, while also looking forward to the future. The kit, which features the club’s recently announced jersey partner Sutter Health across the chest, was introduced to fans at a season ticket holder-only match between the club’s first team and U-18 academy at Avaya Stadium on Wednesday evening. For images of the Earthquakes new kits, please click here. Among the features of the kit are the club’s brand pillars, ‘Unity, Devotion, Heritage,’ written along the inner neck tape, with the original San Jose Clash logo (1996-99) directly above. The Clash logo represents the 20 years since the team’s participation in Major League Soccer’s inaugural season of 1996. The jersey also has a red stripe down the left side of the chest, with ‘SJ74’ written towards the bottom of the stripe as a tribute to the club’s North American Soccer League founding in 1974.

Earthquakes Sign Exclusive Healthcare and Official Jersey Partnership Agreement With Sutter Health
The San Jose Earthquakes and Sutter Health announced a historic multi-year partnership agreement that will see the Northern California healthcare network’s name on the front of the Earthquakes jerseys, beginning in 2016. The wide-ranging partnership also features a number of community components including a joint commitment to considerably expand the MLS club’s Get Earthquakes Fit program, which promotes health and wellbeing throughout schools in Northern California.
