The Earthquakes head back on the road to face off against Western Conference foe FC Dallas on Saturday, April 9 at Toyota Stadium. The match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on MLS Live, 1590 KLIV (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish), while also appearing via tape delay on CSN California at 11 p.m.
Last Saturday, the Quakes celebrated the 20th anniversary of the league’s inaugural match at Spartan Stadium in San Jose by taking on the same opponent, D.C. United, and welcoming back players and staff of the original team. Forward Adam Jahn scored in the waning moments of regulation to force a 1-1 draw, securing a point for the home side. Midfielder Shea Salinas tallied his first assist in 2016, making him the sixth Earthquakes player to earn an assist so far this season.

The San Jose Earthquakes fell to FC Dallas 2-1 at Toyota Stadium to close out their 2015 season. The Earthquakes nearly got on the board after just 11 minutes. Midfielder Shea Salinas intercepted a pass and fed forward Chris Wondolowski into the box. Wondolowski laid the ball off for forward Quincy Amarikwa, whose one-on-one attempt was saved by goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez. Just two minutes later, Amarikwa created another chance and found the back of the net. Receiving a long ball over the top, Amarikwa muscled two defenders off the ball before calmly slotting his left-footed attempt past Gonzalez. It marked his sixth goal of the season, with all six coming away from home. FC Dallas drew level in the 38th minute. After a ball was played across the six-yard box, a scrum ensued with midfielder Mauro Diaz eventually playing it past Quakes keeper David Bingham. In the 52nd minute, the Quakes nearly retook the lead. An out-swinging corner kick by Matias Perez Garcia was met in the air by Wondolowski, whose glancing header missed just wide of the far post. San Jose fell to 10 men when Perez Garcia was shown a straight red card in the 67th minute. Thirteen minutes later, FC Dallas took advantage of the extra man and tallied a second goal when midfielder Victor Ulloa was played in by Fabian Castillo and slid the ball inside the near post.
History of the Quakes – FC Dallas Rivalry
The Earthquakes were 9-1-4 in the final 14 games against Dallas prior to San Jose’s relocation to Houston … The Quakes posted a seven-game winning streak during that stretch from July 20, 2002-Apr. 15, 2004 … San Jose and Dallas met in an important match on Oct. 16, 2004, as San Jose needed a win or a tie to advance to the playoffs, while Dallas needed a win to clinch the final berth in the playoffs. The two teams played to a 2-2 tie at the Cotton Bowl, giving San Jose a spot in the playoffs, while Dallas did not qualify. Ramiro Corrales scored the Quakes second goal in that game … On Sept. 27, 2003, San Jose’s Dwayne De Rosario scored the fastest goal from the start of the game in MLS history, netting a goal 11 seconds into the match at Spartan Stadium against Dallas. Avaya Stadium to Host Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2016 Light The Night Walk
The San Jose Earthquakes announced that Avaya Stadium will host the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2016 Light The Night Walk for the Silicon Valley & Monterey Bay Area Chapter. The walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22. Held annually, the Light The Night Walk raises vital funds for the fight against blood cancers. An event that provides hope and inspiration, survivors, those battling the disease, friends, family and co-workers form teams to take part. Earthquakes Acquire Former U.S. Youth National Team Defender Kofi Sarkodie in Trade with Houston Dynamo
The San Jose Earthquakes announced that the club acquired defender Kofi Sarkodie from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money. Sarkodie, 25, appeared in 98 games (94 starts) for the Houston Dynamo after being drafted with the seventh overall selection in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. In addition to tallying 10 assists from 2011-15, he scored in a 3-1 win over D.C. United in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals to help the club advance to MLS Cup. He was later named the Dynamo Defender of the Year in 2013 after leading the club in minutes played that season. A product of the U.S. Youth National Team system, Sarkodie has represented the red, white and blue at several levels, including U-20 and U-23. He was also a member of the U.S. U-17s at the 2007 U-17 FIFA World Cup in South Korea.
