Kip Colvey - New Zealand - 061216

On Wednesday morning, U.S. Soccer formally announced that the USMNT will take on New Zealand in a friendly on Oct. 11 at RFK Stadium.

The news begs the question: Will Earthquakes defender and New Zealand international Kip Colvey take on the Red, White and Blue for the first time in his young professional career?

Colvey, San Jose’s third-round selection in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, last appeared for New Zealand during the OFC Nations Cup this past June. Playing 390 minutes in four appearances and helping the backline concede just one goal throughout the tournament, Colvey and the All Whites defeated Papua New Guinea in the final, qualifying themselves for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.

We have some time before the rosters are announced for the friendly, but based off Colvey’s last performance on the international stage, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the San Jose rookie joins New Zealand against the United States in D.C.
