Earthquakes Sign 15-Year-Old Midfielder Gilbert Fuentes to Homegrown Contract

The San Jose Earthquakes have signed 15-year-old midfielder Gilbert Fuentes to a Homegrown Player contract. Fuentes is the youngest-ever signing by San Jose and the second-youngest player currently in the MLS. Fuentes joined the Quakes’ U-15 squad from Ballistic United SC in 2016. Despite age-eligibility for the U-17s during the 2017-18 academy season, he has been competing solely for the U-19s and has scored three goals in eight games. Read the full story here.


Earthquakes to Unveil Jersey at Hornet Field on February 11

The Earthquakes announced they will unveil their new jersey and mini-pitch at Hornet Field in Alameda, Calif. on Sunday, Feb. 11, presented by Sutter Health. The event will start at 10 a.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m., with the unveil taking place between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Fans will be able to enjoy several activities at the unveil, which will feature two mini-fields, an inflatable goal and slide, a Quakes photo booth and food trucks. Earthquakes Announce Full Coaching Staff for 2018 Season

The Earthquakes have finalized their coaching staff for the 2018 season with the hiring of Dutch assistant coach Alex de Crook and Finnish goalkeeper coach Jyri Nieminen. De Crook comes to San Jose after serving as head coach of the reserve team for China’s Dalian Yifan where he also worked under current Quakes head coach Mikael Stahre as a First Team assistant. Nieminen comes to San Jose after serving as the goalkeeper coach for the Aspire Academy and the Qatar U-17 National Team. Nieminen specializes in elite player development and game analysis. Earthquakes Announce Alan Ortega [CaliSCG] as Club’s Official eMLS Competitor

he San Jose Earthquakes have signed Alan Ortega, known for his gamertag CaliSCG, as the club’s first official eMLS competitor. Ortega will represent the Quakes in eMLS Cup, and compete against 18 other representatives from MLS clubs for a chance to qualify for the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoff on the road to the FiFA eWorld Cup. Earthquakes Girls’ Academy Defender Andrea Kitahata Called Up to U-15 U.S. GNT

San Jose Earthquakes Girls’ Academy defender Andrea Kitahata has been called up to the U.S. Under-15 Girls’ National Team at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida from Jan. 27-Feb. 3. The U.S. Under-16 and Under-15 Girls’ National Teams will hold concurrent training camps to kick off 2018 programing for both teams. Read the full story here.
