NEWS: Earthquakes Announce 2018 Theme Nights

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today the promotional calendar and theme nights for the Quakes’ home matches during the 2018 MLS regular season, featuring several new themes and the return of fan favorites.

The Earthquakes will kick off the season on Saturday, March 3 at 7:15 p.m. against Minnesota United FC, presented by Avaya, in a rematch of the dramatic 2017 Decision Day finale. First responders will be honored throughout the evening, and the first 15,000 fans that arrive at the stadium on Opening Night will receive a schedule magnet, courtesy of Avaya. Following the game, the Quakes will host the first-ever First Responders Cup, a match between police officers and firefighters.

The Quakes will pay homage to their San Jose neighbors with Sharks Night on Saturday, March 31 at 4:45 p.m. against New York City FC. Sharks mascot Sharkie will be present at the game interacting with fans. The first 5,000 fans to enter Avaya Stadium will receive Quakes socks, presented by Valley Health Plan.

The annual Hall of Fame Night will take place on Saturday, May 5 at 7:15 p.m. against the Portland Timbers. Last season, the Quakes inducted club legend Joe Cannon into the hall and will honor another member of Quakes history this year. Two weeks later on Saturday, May 19 at 7:15 p.m. PT, the Quakes will face D.C. United in the club’s Retro Night, taking Avaya Stadium back in time, presented by Gyft. Retro Night will feature throwback merchandise and graphics and the first 5,000 fans will receive retro sweatbands.

The following month, the Quakes’ annual Pride Night will take place on Saturday, June 9 at 7:15 p.m. against LAFC, presented by Wells Fargo, and the Cali Clasico against the LA Galaxy will return to Stanford Stadium on Saturday, June 30 at 6:45 p.m., presented by Sutter Health. The first 10,000 fans to arrive will receive a Quakes hat. The California Clasico at Stanford has drawn crowds of 50,000+ every year since its inception in 2012.

The 2018 MLS regular season will also see the return of PG&E Heritage Nights, with Portuguese Heritage Night on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 6:45 p.m. against reigning MLS Cup champions Toronto FC, presented by Kelly-Moore Paints, and Mexican Heritage Night on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7:15 p.m. against Atlanta United FC.

The Quakes will wrap up the last month of the season with Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:15 p.m. against the New York Red Bulls, presented by TCL, and Fan Appreciation Night in the last home game of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 21 against the Colorado Rapids.
