March 13, 2003 – Signed goalkeeper Pat Onstad as discovery player

The Earthquakes signed goalkeeper Pat Onstad as a discovery player on March 13, 2003. During his first season with the club, Onstad helped lead the Earthquakes to their second MLS Cup in club history in 2003 and was named Goalkeeper of the Year, along with earning MLS Best XI honors. The following season, Onstad was an MLS All-Star and earned the Earthquakes’ Defensive Player of the Year Award. In 2005, Onstad’s final season with the Quakes, he received the Earthquakes’ Defensive Player of the Year Award and Goalkeeper of the Year again, and MLS Best XI honors for a second time.


March 17, 2008 – Signed midfielder Shea Salinas to a senior roster contract

The Earthquakes signed midfielder Shea Salinas to a senior roster contract on March 17, 2008 after he was selected 15th overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. Salinas has spent eight seasons with the Quakes and is ranked in several Quakes leaderboards, including third in games played (217), third in all-time assists (41), seventh in shots (170) and second in all-time corner kicks (384).


March 13, 2017 – Signed Goalkeeper Matt Bersano

The Earthquakes signed goalkeeper Matt Bersano to a multi-year contract after spending the 2017 preseason as a trialist. Bersano spent most of the 2017 season on loan with the Quakes’ USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC, where he was named their Goalkeeper of the Year. Bersano tallied nine clean sheets, made 73 saves and played 2,520 minutes.
