QUAKES NOTES: Wondo inching closer to Landon's record

Wondo - Celebration - 2018

Back on the Board

Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski scored two goals in the team’s last match against LAFC. It marked his first multi-goal game since May 6, 2017.

Another Record Down

On Saturday, Wondolowski scored against his 24th different opponent, setting a new MLS record. Over the past few seasons, he has scored in his first match against every expansion side: Orlando City SC (2015), New York City FC (2015), Atlanta United FC (2017) and Los Angeles FC (2018).

More Than Scoring

In addition to leading the Quakes with seven goals, Danny Hoesen’s performance on Saturday has also put him level with Vako for the club lead in assists with four. He is one of five players in MLS with at least seven goals and four assists, joining Bradley Wright-Phillips (NYRB), Alberth Elis (HOU), David Villa (NYC) and Carlos Vela (LAFC).

Better Late than Never

In matches between the Quakes and the Revolution, the Quakes have scored 68 percent of their goals in the second half (46 of 68 goals).

MLS Debut

In the Quakes’ last MLS match, Kevin Partida, recently acquired on a season-long loan from San Jose’s USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC, started and made his MLS debut at the left back position.

Closing the Gap

After scoring two goals in his last MLS match, Chris Wondolowski now has 138 career goals and is just seven goals shy of the MLS all-time scoring record held by Landon Donovan (145).

Evenly matched

In matches between the two teams, the Quakes and the Revolution have 10 wins apiece.  A win for the Quakes will break the deadlock between the two teams.
