Earthquakes Add 10-Year-Old Destinee Coronado to Roster
The San Jose Earthquakes announced last week that the club has added defender/midfielder Destinee Coronado to the roster for last Wednesday’s match against Atlanta United FC, presented by Honda. Coronado, 10, joined the Quakes from the Honeybees and served as the honorary captain for the match. On April 14, Coronado was taken to the ER with pain in her abdominal area. After many tests and a CT scan, doctors found a Stage 3, malignant cancerous tumor growing in one of her ovaries. She underwent surgery to have the tumor removed the next day.
