FEATURE: Nick Lima Tallies Assist in USMNT Debut

Nick Lima - USMNT - 2019 - First Cap

On Sunday night, Jan. 27, San Jose Earthquakes defender Nick Lima was named to the starting lineup of the U.S. Men's National Team in their friendly match against Panama. The news was a pleasant surprise for Quakes fans who have been waiting for Lima to make his U.S. debut after he received his first call-up to the senior squad in 2018.

Lima found his footing early on in the match, linking up with U.S. attackers in the team's build up play. In the 80th minute, Lima was able to orchestrate the USMNT's second goal by combining his defensive and offensive abilities.

Lima's assist proved to be the dagger, eliminating Panama's momentum. The U.S. would go on to secure a 3-0 victory with Lima being named USMNT's Man of the Match.

On Feb. 2, the U.S. will take on Costa Rica at Avaya Stadium, home of the San Jose Earthquakes. For tickets to this match, click here.
