The San Jose Earthquakes are proud to partner with the Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team Program (BAASST). The Earthquakes will join the Golden State Warriors, Oakland A’s, San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks to award a $5,000 scholarship to a deserving college-bound student on behalf of the Quakes Foundation.
Each participating sports team contributes to the scholarship program in a collective effort to assist Bay Area high school students achieve their goals of higher education. This unique committee is the first of its kind in the realm of professional sports.
This year’s winner is Sara Nicole Thomas of John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, California. Sara will be attending Arizona State University and will be studying Forensic Psychology as she pursues a career in law. In addition to her scholastic achievement, Sara is a true scholar-athlete, lettering in basketball and softball and earning her school’s 8K Award. The 8K Award is a recognition for athletes who earn varsity letters for eight or more seasons.
The Quakes will be hosting Sara and the other BAASST Scholarship recipients for an on-field ceremony on Saturday, April 11.
