Contact Jovan Yamagishi

 

Yamagishi enters his first season as a coach at the San Jose Earthquakes Girls Development Academy. Born in Japan, he grew up playing with players all over the world while attending Canadian Academy - an international school.  After playing in NCAA Division I with Hartwick College at New York, Yamagishi decided to take the next step in becoming a professional footballer. He played in Uruguay with Club Sportivo Miramar Misiones and in Norway with Sandefjord Fotball before returning to his homeland. He played for four more seasons before embarking on his journey as a youth soccer coach. 

Yamagishi holds the Japanese Football Association 'C' License and the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.  He has previously held positions as a Technical Director at Dublin United Soccer League and as a Development Director at San Ramon Futbol Club. Yamagishi also led at the collegiate level as the head coach for men’s and women’s soccer programs at Holy Names University in the NCAA Division II. For high school soccer, he has experiences coaching at San Francisco University High School and at Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda.

Yamagishi currently resides in Oakland with his wife, Jun, and their daughter, Amyu.
