SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that midfielder Hernán López has been cleared to play Saturday against LAFC at Levi’s Stadium. López was acquired from Argentine Primera División side Godoy Cruz last week for a club-record transfer fee to become the Quakes’ new Designated Player.

Kickoff from Levi’s Stadium is set for Saturday, May 4, at 4:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, as well as on local radio via KNBR 1050 AM (English) and KZSF 1370 AM (Spanish).

After more than 45,000 fans packed Levi’s Stadium last year to witness the Quakes win a 2-1 thriller over LAFC, this season’s highly anticipated edition of the MLS regular-season rivalry match returns for the largest Cinco de Mayo Weekend celebration on the West Coast, complete with a special appearance by San Francisco 49ers All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner and a halftime performance from Marca MP.

A Fan Fest will take place at Faithful Mile in front of SAP Tower between Gates A and C starting at 1:30 p.m. and will include meet-and-greet opportunities with Mexico National Team legend Oswaldo Sánchez, Salinas boxing world title contender Ruben Villa, Reynoso and Soltero of The Give N Go Podcast, social media sensations San Jose Foos and TikTok stars Rico and The Mars Family, as well as luchadores from Pro Wrestling Revolution, Mexican cuisine and a live musical performance from Sueñatrón.
