Visitor's Guide to Denver according to Bobby Burling

Denver Visitor's Guide

[inline_node:4209]Quakes fans traveling to Colorado this weekend should be wary of two things: the Rapids offensive-minded approach and a white, powdery substance falling from the sky.

Yes, snow is in the forecast for Saturday. But don't let the cold weather prevent you from enjoying your trip to Colorado!

Here's a visitor's guide to Denver according to Centennial State native and San Jose Earthquakes defender Bobby Burling:

Best Thing About Denver
State Parks and outdoor activities - even in the cold months. Denver has over 40 State Parks and 11 million visitors to these parks annually.

Friday Night Plans
Grab dinner downtown and then head to Market Street or Larimer Square where you can go to a ritzy bar, piano bar or tavern.

Tourist Attraction

Depending on where you have access to, the Red Rocks Amphitheater is really cool and open to hike, 16th Street downtown for shopping/dining, hiking in the Mountains or the Flat Irons of Boulder.

Local Secret (Hidden Gem)
British Bulldog. It’s a great soccer pub downtown for true Futbol fans. Catch the Saturday morning EPL action there.

Where Not to Go
Hard Rock Cafe or anything chain-related. There’s tons of local breweries to choose from!

Best Sports Bar
Sports Column Downtown because they have some great specials or Rooftop at the Tavern Downtown (weather permitting, but they have heaters).

One Restaurant to Visit
Fruition in Cherry Creek. Not only has it been named the best restaurant in Colorado, it’s co-owned by an old teammate of mine, Jesse Marsch.  (Just don’t expect to get anything free for dropping his name!) They have an AMAZING cook and menu.

One Must-See Attraction

The Mountains! Or, if you’re staying Downtown, I would say the 16th Street Mall or Cherry Creek Mall for the shopping. (16th Street should be lit up because they are gearing up for the holidays down there.)

One Thing to Do
Hike, bottom line, and the Rocky Mountains are beautiful. But, if the weather is too bad, at least go for a drive somewhere or get out to one of the parks for a jog/walk.

One Thing to Bring
A warm jacket and a thermos for your beverage of choice for the game on Saturday night.
