Chris Wondolowski passed Landon Donovan for No. 2 on the San Jose Earthquakes’ career goals list, scoring in the 85th minute to help San Jose to a 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City at Buck Shaw Stadium. The match drew a club-record fifth-consecutive sellout crowd of 10,525. Wondolowski volleyed home a well-placed cross by Steven Beitashour to give the Quakes an initial 1-0 lead. It was Wondo’s 12th goal of 2011 and his 33rd career goal with San Jose. Meanwhile, Beitashour recorded his team-leading sixth assist of the season, a career high. Moments after Wondolowski scored, Sporting KC’s Teal Bunbury answered to knot things up at 1-1. The Quakes are now unbeaten in their past 13 regular season home games against Sporting KC.

The San Jose Earthquakes stretched their unbeaten streak to three games with a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Quakes came to life in the second half with goals from Ellis McLoughlin and Bobby Convey. McLoughlin headed home his first career goal following a perfect cross from Chris Wondolowski in the 71st minute to open the scoring. Convey then curled home an incredible free kick to give San Jose a two-goal cushion. Revs midfielder Chris Tierney scored a free kick of his own in the 86th minute to cut the score to 2-1, but the Quakes held on to win their second straight game at home.


History of the Quakes – Revolution Rivalry
The Quakes are 18-11-5 all-time against the New England Revolution in the regular season, and dominated the series from 2001-05. The Quakes did not lose to New England for 12 straight games, putting together a 9-0-3 record from May 5, 2001 to Oct. 1, 2005. The Revs had not beaten the Quakes since July 22, 2000, until their victory on May 17, 2008 ... The Quakes have lost just twice at Gillette Stadium, posting a 5-2-2 record since the Revolution began playing games there in 2002 ... Last season, the Earthquakes beat the Revolution at home 2-0 on April 17, with goals from Chris Wondolowski and Ike Opara, and tied 0-0 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. on May 15 ...
