SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes today announced that the club will take on California Clasico rival LA Galaxy in Las Vegas on Saturday, February 13 as part of the 2016 preseason. The match is hosted by Champions Soccer, will take place at Cashman Field and kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
The Quakes return to the Bay Area from a weeklong training camp in Tucson, Arizona on Wednesday, February 10, before departing for Las Vegas on Friday, February 12.
The Earthquakes and Galaxy have arguably the fiercest rivalry in Major League Soccer, which dates back to the league’s inaugural season of 1996. The two Western Conference clubs have competed 60 times during the regular season and 10 additional times during the playoffs, and have combined to win seven of the last 15 MLS Cups. The matchup marks only the second time the two teams have met outside of the state of California, joining the 2001 MLS Cup Final in Columbus, Ohio.
