6 things to know about Earthquakes defender Andres Imperiale

1. San Jose to San Jose:He comes to San Jose from Costa Rican power Deportivo Saprissa after helping the club win the winter championship in December.



2. Well-rounded: A versatile player, Imperiale has played both center back and left back in his professional career.


3. Towering Presence: The Argentinean international stands tall at 6’1”. With Clarence Goodson listed at 6’4”, Victor Bernardez at 6’2” and Jordan Stewart and Shaun Francis both at 6’0”, he will fit right into San Jose’s towering backline. 


4. Lefty: He’s left-footed. Jordan Stewart and Shaun Francis are the only left footed defenders on the Quakes current roster. 


5. Decade Man: Imperiale, 29, has played in the top divisions of Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Cyprus and Bolivia since making his professional debut in 2005. He adds a decade of professional experience to the backline. 


6. Leader in the Back: In 2013, he helped Chilean side Universidad Concepción become the Primera B champions and earn promotion to the Campeonato Nacional.
