SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes continued to roll through the 2016 preseason with a 3-1 victory over the Sonoma County Sol at the Earthquakes Training Facility on Wednesday morning. San Jose used goals by forwards Chad Barrett, Quincy Amarikwa and Adam Jahn to defeat the National Premier Soccer League side in a match that featured three 30-minute periods.

The Quakes broke the deadlock in the 10th minute. Midfielder Simon Dawkins sent a through ball to Barrett, who calmly slotted his shot just inside the far post.

In the 21st minute, Dawkins set up another goal for San Jose. His pass into the penalty area for Amarikwa sent the forward into a one-on-one situation with the keeper. Amarikwa blasted the shot into the roof of the net, doubling the home side’s lead.

The Sonoma County Sol was able to pull a goal back in the 46th minute, when Brenton Frame converted a penalty kick after San Jose was called for handball inside the 18-yard box.

Just before the second intermission, the Quakes buried a third goal to complete the victory. Midfielder Matias Perez Garcia cut back his defender and played a ball across the box for Jahn, who punched it into the back of the net.

The Quakes return to action on Saturday, February 20 with a friendly against Sacramento Republic FC, the club’s USL affiliate, at Bonney Field in the state’s capital. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
