The Quakes took the training pitch on Tuesday afternoon to continue preparations for the 2016 regular season. With just two preseason contests remaining before opening day on March 6, every training session becomes more crucial.

Following the standard warm-up procedure, the Quakes went into a 3v2 drill with rapid restarts every time the ball was cleared out of play or found the back of the net. Midfielders Tommy Thompson and Matheus Silva formed a formidable defensive tandem that made life difficult on the three attacking players, before Simon Dawkins was able to bury a pair of spectacular goals.

The drill then shifted to 4v3 with a similar structure. Defender Victor Bernardez was among the standouts, smashing a shot into the lower-left corner of the net and later making a last-ditch slide tackle to prevent a goal by rookie Kip Colvey.
San Jose takes the field at the Earthquakes Training Facility tomorrow, Wednesday, February 27, against SF City FC. The club will then host the New York Cosmos at Avaya Stadium on Saturday night in their final preseason tune-up (7 p.m.). Tickets for the match are available here.
