SAN JOSE, Calif. – United States Under-20 National Team head coach Tab Ramos has selected two San Jose Earthquakes Academy alumni – goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski and midfielder/forward Amir Bashti – as part of a 22-player roster for the upcoming Dallas Cup. The U.S. will play Mexican club Monterrey, English side Fulham and German squad Hoffenheim in group play. The tournament runs from March 20-26.

Marcinkowski, an Alamo, Calif. native, posted a 0.69 goals-against average with 63 saves during his freshman season at Georgetown University, finishing with a 16-2-3 record with nine shutouts in 21 appearances. He helped lead the Hoyas to the Round of 16 during the College Cup.

Bashti, a native of Cupertino, Calif., finished his freshman campaign at Stanford University with four goals, two game-winning goals and two assists in 21 games, while helping the Cardinal win its first-ever College Cup.

“The Dallas Cup will provide us a great opportunity to see all of these players in meaningful international games,” said Ramos. “We will see which players stand out and what combination of players work well together as we build towards U-20 WC Qualifying in early 2017.”

This will be the first tournament of 2016 for the U-20s after holding a January training camp in Miami, Florida, where they won two matches against local club teams.

The Dallas Cup is the first step in the process of forming the roster for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Men’s Championship from which four teams will earn a berth to the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea.
