Maintaining the Trend
The Earthquakes went undefeated against Seattle Sounders FC last season, accumulating a 2-0-1 record in their three match-ups. Both of San Jose’s wins against Seattle came on the road and they were the only team in Major League Soccer last season to beat them twice at CenturyLink Field. They haven’t lost to Sounders FC since May 17, 2014 in Seattle and are looking to continue their success.
A Familiar Foe
Earthquakes forward Chad Barrett could make his season debut against his former team on Saturday after returning from a groin injury. Barrett tallied 12 goals and an assist in 44 games for Seattle over the past two seasons.
Race for the Cup
Saturday’s clash marks the first of the year between the two West Coast rivals. San Jose is looking to win their third straight Heritage Cup and fourth of the last five.
