Quincy Amarikwa's chip wins Soccer By Ives MLS Midseason Goal of the Year

It's safe to say that the first half of the 2016 MLS season had it's fair share of spectacular goals.

Amidst jaw-dropping long-range strikes and spectacular free kick finishes stands "The Chip," a highlight-reel goal scored by Earthquakes forward Quincy Amarikwa that proved to become a worldwide social media sensation.

On Tuesday, Soccer By Ives unveiled the top 20 goals of the first half of the MLS season with Amarikwa's historic tally against the Portland Timbers on March 13 as the SBI MLS Midseason Goal of the Year.

Holding a 1-0 lead in the final seconds of the first half, Amarikwa broke free from three oncoming Portland defenders in the midfield before lofting his attempt over the back-tracking Adam Kwarasey and into the far-side netting. San Jose would hold onto the lead and seal a 1-0 win over the defending MLS Champions at Avaya Stadium.
