NEWS: Earthquakes Announce ‘Salinas Classic’ Friendly Between Quakes II and MBFC2 in Salinas

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes have announced the ‘Salinas Classic’, a friendly between Earthquakes II and Monterey Bay F.C. 2 (MBFC2) on Saturday, April 22 in Salinas, Calif., presented by Valley Health Plan. Kickoff from Rabobank Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.

Earthquakes II is the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of the San Jose Earthquakes. Entering their second season, Quakes II is comprised of players on MLS NEXT Pro professional contracts, young first team players, and amateur Quakes Academy players. The team will kick off their 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season at home against LA Galaxy II on Sunday, March 26 (5 p.m.) at PayPal Park. Launched on Feb. 6, 2023, MBFC2 is the USL League Two affiliate of USL Championship side Monterey Bay F.C. MBFC2 will play in the Southwest Division of USL League Two, a pre-professional development league. The team, led by Earthquakes Hall of Famer Ramiro Corrales, will be based in Salinas and begin league play this summer. For more information on MBFC2, visit www.montereybayfc.com

In conjunction with the Quakes’ efforts to grow the game of soccer in Monterey County, the match will pit two NorCal sides and showcase San Jose’s future stars and Salinas’ new club. The match will feature a pregame fan fest with festivities, food trucks, and music beginning at 12 p.m. Culture Night Market, a San Jose-based community initiative, will also hold activations with local Salinas businesses, presented by PayPal, before the match.

Earthquakes Season Ticket holders can redeem their free tickets by contacting their account services representative. Tickets for the general public can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com, with proceeds benefitting the Kicks for Kids program in support of kids from Salinas and the greater Monterey County. Fans will have the option to donate more when purchasing their tickets online.
