There wasn't a lower point in the 2010 season than San Jose's 1-0 loss in Colorado.
A fluke own goal by Jon Busch and the Quakes found themselves on the wrong side of a tumultuous skid that included one win in their previous nine outings. Making matters worse, Ramiro Corrales suffered a sprained MCL, an injury that would sideline the Quakes captain for two months.
After forcing itself into playoff discussions with a 5-2-2 start, San Jose was three points back of the post-season party.
"That was a tough loss. After the game, we had to regroup. We had a team meeting to talk things out and it was definitely a turning point in our season," said Quakes leading scorer Chris Wondolowski.
Whatever was said behind closed doors, it worked.
The Quakes won five of their next seven games, including a 1-0 win against the Los Angeles Galaxy, and, on October 9 against D.C. United, San Jose clinched its first trip to the post-season since rejoining MLS in 2008.
